Today I'm going to tell you why having a teddy bear to cuddle daily and in bed is good for children. You might think that teddy bears are just fluffy pieces of fabric stuffed with cotton, but they are actually much more than that. They are loyal friends, comforting companions, and brave protectors. And they don't judge you when you snore, toot or drool. Here are some of the perks of having a teddy bear in your bed:
- Teddy bears can help children feel less lonely or scared at night. They provide a sense of security and warmth that can calm down a child's anxiety or nightmares. No-one wants to sleep alone. They can also be a source of emotional support when a child is going through a tough time, such as moving to a new place, starting school, going into hospital or having a new sibling arrive in the family. They will always listen to your problems and give you a big hug.
- Teddy bears can stimulate children's imagination and creativity. They can be used as props for storytelling, role-playing, or pretending. They can also inspire children to explore different emotions, personalities, and scenarios. For example, a child can pretend that their teddy bear is a superhero, a doctor, or a chef. They can also talk to their teddy bear about their feelings, thoughts, or dreams.
- Teddy bears can foster children's social skills and empathy. They can teach children how to care for others, share, and cooperate. They can also help children develop empathy by understanding how their teddy bear feels and what they need. For example, a child can learn to hug their teddy bear when they are sad, feed them when they are hungry, or tuck them in when they are sleepy. And if the teddy bear gets dirty or torn, they can learn to wash them or sew them.
Our smalls can use their Lavenderbuddy for sleep but also for communicating when they do not want to speak or cannot speak.
Using Lavenderbuddy and our chart, learning where emotions and feelings are stored, can open up a way to communicate by pointing to the chakra on the bear: for eg- Green, " my heart hurts and I am upset"
As you can see from above having a Lavenderbuddy to cuddle is good for children in many ways as well as receiving oxytocin, the cuddle hormone when the parents, carers and educators cant be there in that moment. It can enhance their emotional, cognitive, and social development. So if you have a child or know someone who does, why not get them a Lavenderbuddy as a gift knowing it has so much potential to support them with sleep and big emotions.
